Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Crumpler’s Chinese New Year

Bag company, Crumpler, gets us moving into 2011 with their tribute the Chinese New Year and the year of the rabbit.

When it comes to moving in design we Design Hunters™ need some serious gear, and possibly the most important item in our arsenal is a good bag.

Well as the Chinese New Year ushers in the year of the rabbit, Crumpler have created a limited edition range of red bags – red being the colour of good fortune and joy.

The bags feature a bright crimson lining with a unique origami rabbit print. Every element of the bags is red,  including buckles, webbing and zips, and each has a unique gold woven label.

In the range are the Hillman Hunter (small messenger bag), Headaitch (a tote for the lady on the move), Goldschlager’s Carpet (a slim laptop sleeve), Herbas (iPad bag), and the Squid (stowaway lightweight drawstring backpack). There’s also a great origami rabbit keyring.

The range will be available later this month in Crumpler stores everywhere, but habitusliving.com readers have the chance to win one of these collector’s items for yourselves.

Simply tell us your favourite rabbit story (anything with a rabbit in it!) by filling in the form below. The most creative response will take home a limited edition Chinese New Year Hillman Hunter thanks to Crumpler.

Happy New Year!
