The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

About me:  AC 01 limited edition – Punkt. for Japan: Still Time to Help
Punkt. has launched a limited edition timepiece in collaboration with Jasper Morrison’s design studio and Seiko Clock Inc., to help in Japan’s rebuilding efforts following the devastating events that struck the country earlier this year.
Joining forces with non-profit organisation Architecture for Humanity (AfH), the young Swiss-based company has produced a red/white limited edition of the AC 01 alarm clock designed by Jasper Morrison, where 100% of the profits will go to the Maeami Village Reconstruction efforts to rebuild homes and play areas in the small fishing village, located in the Tohoku region, an area deeply affected by the March tsunami.

The AC 01, which was first launched in 3 separate colours of black, red and white at the Salone del Mobile in Milan this April, is a highly intuitive timekeeper that enables the user to perform these 4 simple actions easily: setting the alarm, switching it off, activating the snooze button, and checking the time in the middle of the night.

The alarm can be activated or deactivated with a simple manual gesture, and the snooze button, by pressing the back of the clock.

To illuminate the entire dial, just gently squeeze the clock to activate the light ring. The glow-in-the-dark hands and dial also allows you to tell the time in complete darkness without having to turn the light ring on.

The AC 01 is protected by thick scratch-proof glass and surrounded by a solid aluminium body to ensure product longevity.

Punkt. for Japan: Still Time to Help will run from 20 September to December 2011.

The limited edition AC 01 will launch in the Asia Pacific region in October with all models available at leading design lifestyle stores and art gallery shops.
Visit formartdesigneditions.com/formart/punkt.html from 3 October to check on locations.
