The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Brighten your space with Flynn Talbot’s Mesh Space collection

New Zealand design house Resident has introduced Flynn Talbot’s Mesh Space Wall and Ceiling light, which was officially debuted at New York Design Week last year.

Flynn Talbot’s work begins with the consideration of the “light effect” first, and subsequently each project is crafted around it. Every decision and detail is made with the quality of light and user connection in mind, resulting in high quality and user-conscious lighting solutions. This is evident in Talbot’s latest collection for New Zealand design house, Resident.

Designed by Flynn Talbot, who operates a specialised lighting design studio that is currently based in Perth, the Mesh Space Wall Light is constructed around a seamless ring of LED light, creating a warm and functional lighting loop. The flattened mesh dome reflects light into the space and then filters the light onto the wall. The LED driver / dimmer is contained within the base for easy installation on new and retrofit interior projects.

The matching Mesh Space Ceiling Light is a functional and decorative solution for low ceilings and other areas where suspended lights aren’t feasible. In this case the brass dome floats horizontally to create an even spread of light on the surface below.
