The 'Future' Issue

Habitus #64 Welcome to the HABITUS ‘Future’ and ‘Habitus House of the Year’ Issue. We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Profiles on Yvonne Todd, Amy Lawrance, and Kallie Blauhorn are rounded out with projects from Studio ZAWA, SJB, Spirit Level, STUDIOLIVE, Park + Associates and a Lake House made in just 40 days by the wonderful Wutopia Lab, plus the short list for the Habitus House of the Year!

Different Thoughts Credenza

By Stylecraft

Shifting yet also still, the Different Thoughts Credenza by Elliat Rich celebrates movement in all its forms. The body is seamless, with the woodgrain draped over its’ entirety for a smooth visual. The sense of movement is captured as either an open shelving unit or credenza with sliding doors.

As a credenza, the doors are available in frosted acrylic, timber, or a combination of the two. The frosted acrylic door set features a clear backing board allowing light to fill the unit, creating additional colours and shapes in the door panels. While the altering grain of the timber door set is staggered from door to door. The Open Shelving Unit allows allows access from either side and can be positioned anywhere within a space.

Internally, the shelving is designed to appear to float, while provisions have been made to allow for power and AV, suiting any home entertainment needs.

Timber stain finishes include Black, Oak, Stone and Ecru, with the acrylic doors available in 2 finishes of violet and cyan to create a mild blue middle circle, or frosted white and stone to create a beige. If timber doors have been selected the finish of backing board will be the same as the unit, while frosted acrylic will be used instead if acrylic doors are selected.
