The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Fender Katsalidis And The Finishing Touches

Victoria’s Ivanhoe is the site of a suite of inspiring apartments from Fender Katsalidis Architects and Beulah International – featuring the latest in Phoenix fixtures.

The new apartments, the Hallmark, sees 155 homes across 20 levels. Located on the corner of St Kilda Road, Park Street and Albert Road, the design from Fender Katsalidis is matched by the stunning views of the Melbourne CBD, Shrine and Botanic Gardens.

“Designed to convey a sense of identity, the residence is inspired by the notion of subtraction,” say the team from Beulah International, who handled development for the project, “With this as the basis of the project, it also takes its cues from the Art Deco era; elegant and simple, it has a strength and sense of presence from modernist architecture in its simplicity and form.  This is seen through the use of contrasting materials and colours, from rich metals and bronzes through to natural stone and timber finishes.

“A neutral and soft colour palette traces throughout the apartment, balancing out the flashes of bronze to ensure a simple, but luxurious overtone.  Looking to create a sanctuary for the owners, the developer and architect employed these materials to achieve a harmonious and calm space that is reflective of a retreat.”

To match the simple and elegant style of the building’s interior and façade, a suite of Phoenix’s inspired fixtures were installed in several apartments.

Phoenix’s unique Gun Metal finish features extensively throughout, with the Vivid Slimline mixers, Vivid showers and Radii accessories were selected for the development of 35 lucky apartments. The dark grey tones of gun metal star within the bathroom areas and match in perfectly within the neutral colour palette.
