The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

European Design With An Australian Twist

Bringing quality design to Australian shores, FLOC Studio represents four incredible European brands, all from its Geelong base. It’s coastal living at its best.

Inspired by travel and a love for good design, FLOC Studio was created to bring high-quality furniture with integrity.

“The idea of creating FLOC was based on a love for good design. Through the brand, we wanted to share our experience and love for travel to truly connect with people. We felt the industry needed a freshen up so like-minded designers and clients could connect on the same level,” shares FLOC Studio’s founder Ginette Alexander.

Part of the identity that makes FLOC Studio unique is its coastal locale and coastal mentality. It’s true to the company’s identity without limiting its reach across the Asia Pacific. As Ginette reiterates “FLOC is based on the coast as this is our place to feel creative and inspired as a brand. But we work all over Australia and NZ, working directly with interiors designers, retailers and clients directly.”

Maintaining a careful balance and curated focus, FLOC Studio works exclusively with four key European brands – WOUD, Kristina Dam, Wewood and Archiutti.

This defining focus is a strategic decision: “We import fewer brands compared to other furniture importers, but this ensures we’re 100 per cent across every detail, from the brands themselves and for our own clients. We are not numbers based, we are people based. Our success derives from our relationships,” says Ginette.

The same attention and care comes directly from the brands that FLOC Studio works with. “Our brands are smaller family brands where we get to truly connect through honest design and stories.

“We feel that it is design that moves the economy,” states Ginette.
