Living in the Environment Issue

Issue 62 is the first issue of the year and always a great time to put our best foot forward. With Adam Goodrum, the loveliest man in design, as Guest Editor, we draw on his insights as a furniture designer, artist and educator to look at the makers shaping our design world. Sustainability has never been more important, and increasingly this is a consideration from the start with projects designed to address their immediate environment as well as the longevity of the planet. From the coldest winters to the most tropical of summers, addressing how we live in the environment is crucial to creating the perfect home.

The Gota desk and Caramelo tables

The beautiful, simple forms of the Gota and Caramelo tables from moisés hernándezis are spiced up with a touch of colour.

I am: A desk and tables

Designed by: moisés hernández

About me:

Moisés Hernández wondered what would happen if the floor you are transmitted its colour up the leg of your desk, fusing the space into one. The result of these ponderings is the Gota desk and table.

Made in Ash and Ash plywood, the desk or table features a coloured leg, which appears to transmit colour to the edge of the tabletop. We love the thought behind this desk, but it’s also nice to see something asymmetrical in our world.

The Caramelo tables represent the same simple aesthetic, but feature a stripe of vibrant colour across each. Inspired by lollies the tables are designed "to use more than one at the same space creating a sweet and colourful atmosphere".
