The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Habitus Loves… Beanbags

They’ve never really gone out of fashion, but beanbags have definitely grown up over the years. Here’s 8 of our favourite contemporary beanbag designs and why we love them.

ROO

title

Designed by:
Ulla Koskinen for Woodnotes

Why we love it: This amazing beanbag is made from spun paper yarn. A paper beanbag? We know, amazing, right? It invites you to recline and relax. Much love.

Where you can get it:

Anibou and Woodnotes

Big Elephant

title

Designed by: Yenn Design

Why we love it: The name automatically makes this a playful design. We like to think of them more as a pair of elephant’s pants, sewn up and stuffed. Can be used in a heap of different positions on its own or with others.

Where you can get it:

FeelGood Designs and Yenn Design

Swell

title

Designed by: Form Us With Love

Why we love it: This beanbag has structure. A beautiful wire frame makes this much more of a chair, but still with that sinky feeling of a beanbag. Like a pudgy rosebud.

Where you can get it:

Voice Furniture

FATBOY Jeans

Designed by: Original by Jukka Setala

Why we love it: The Fatboy is like an oversized pillow. So simple, so big, and in denim, so cool!

Where you can get it:

Hub Furniture and Fatboy

Bonnet

title

Designed by:
Liset Van der Scheer

Why we love it: Although these little guys are more pouffes than bean bags, their form is similar and so appealing. Coming in a number of shapes and sizes the pieces have removable knitted ‘bonnet’ covers. Gotta love the little bonnet detail at the top!

Where you can get it:

Casalis

Togo

Designed by: Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset

Why we love it: This is the grown-ups version of the beanbag. Taking that plumpy aesthetic and bringing it to a lounge setting is pure genius.

Where you can get it:

Domo Collections

Coffee Fellow Beanbag

title

Designed by: Johanna Hansson

Why we love it: Made from 8 recycled coffee bean bags sewn together, this beanbag would have to be a coffee lover’s dream spot.

Where you can get it:

Marine Beanbag

title

Designed by: Coast New Zealand

Why we love it: Why not take the beanbag outdoors? That’s what Coast New Zealand have done with their range of waterproofed beanbags. The classic beanbag shape in the garden, could you ask for more?
