The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Habitus Loves… Sitting Outside

With the festive season winding down it’s time for us to venture outdoors to truly relax. So we thought we’d find the sunniest spot in the garden and pull up 8 of our favourite outdoor seats.

The Luna Collection

Designed by:
Ramon Esteve for Gandia Blasco

Why we love it: The clean, geometric lines of the Luna collection make us feel ultra-modern, while the choice of 4 assertive colours lets us make a real statement.

Where you can get it:

Parterre

Kosmos

title

Designed by: Dirk Wynants

Why we love it: The outdoors are all about coming together. This large seating and table combo from Extremis draws people in together to share great food and great conversation – and it’s super comfy!

DALILIPS SOFA

title

Designed by: Salvador Dali

Why we love it: Okay, so this one is purely for fun. It may not work in everyone’s outdoor entertaining area, but designed by the world’s most famous surrealist painter, these giant lips are bound to put a smile on any visitor’s face.

Where you can get it:

KEZU

BOKZ

title

Designed by:
Royal Botania

Why we love it: More geometric furniture from our friends at Parterre, this BOKZ chair proves that a beautifully designed dining chair need not be limited to the indoors.

Where you can get it:

Parterre

Sunni

title

Designed by: Blok Furniture

Why we love it: The Sunni stool and bench get back to simple outdoor furniture, while offering ‘curvy’ visual interest and showing off the natural timbers. We love it in the rosewood (pictured) but there is a choice of hardwood timbers.

1966 Rocking Chair

title

Designed by: Richard Schultz

Why we love it: Take the rocking chair out of it’s ‘grandma’s living room’ context and you get some great stuff. This cast aluminium chair by Richard Schultz will help you while away the summer afternoons.

Where you can get it:

FY2K

Piedras

title

Designed by: Javier Mariscal for Magis

Why we love it: Once again, these peieces may not be for everyone, but their Flintstones-esque aesthetic is so much fun and with two-seater, armchair and matching table, a rockery has never been so inviting.

Canasta

Designed by: by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia

Why we love it: The sun filtering through the trees on a warm summer’s day, a G&T in hand and a good book. That’s the scene conjured up in our minds when we see this lovely outdoor sofa from B&B Italia.
