Palatial Pallas

Combining class and contemporary design, the design of Pallas table is all in the details.

Designed by Konstantin Grcic for ClassiCon, Pallas has an overwhelming presence and commands attention in any room at first glance. On a second look, it reveals an abundance of exciting design details: kinks and notches which break up and give life to the smooth lines, screwed joints on the underside, a tactile appeal of the slightly coarsened, powder-coated metal surface. Pallas is made of steel and finished in standard colours: black, cream-white and basalt-grey. There’s also a range of special colours for those who use hue to express personality – beige, signal white, rape yellow, orange, oxide red, fire red, enzian blue, light blue and white aluminium.

ClassiCon’s products aim above all to produce individual pieces of great originality and formal perfection – pieces with the potential to become classics in their own right one day. ClassiCon has from its inception aspired not only to offer pieces by established figures such as Eileen Gray and Eckart Muthesius, but also to foster contemporary design. ClassiCon pieces display both quality and advanced form, while being open to new design ideas in furniture design.

Konstantin Grcic was born in Munich, Germany in 1965. After training as a cabinet maker at Parnham College in England he studied Design at the Royal College of Art in London from 1988–1990. Since setting up his own design practice in Munich in 1991 called Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design, he has developed furniture, products and lighting for some of Europe’s leading design companies. Many of his products have received prestigious design awards. In January 2006 Phaidon (London) published the book ‘KGID Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design’ and in 2006 the Haus der Kunst, Munich staged an exhibition of Grcic’s work.
