The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Habitus Loves… Sitting in Style

In preparation for our Lounging month – running throughout December on Habitus Living and our December issue of Habitus Magazine (on sale on the 18th), we share with you a few of our current favourite seats. So you can relax in style.

1 | Pick up Sticks by Simon James

This chair is about comfort and efficiency – the frame and upholstery created separately to ensuring a short lead-time. We love the refined form, pretty oak and warm colour.

2 | sudare by Nendo

sudare06_akihiro_yoshida
sudare01_ayao_yamazaki

What we love about sudare is that it is a furniture collection designed for verandas, terraces and other compact exterior spaces. The pieces fold up, and have a double use as a partition, like Japanese sudare window blinds, when placed before a railing or other edge surface. There’s also two more seating styles, a high- back chair and a lounger.

3 | Cloud collection by Carlo Colombo for Arflex

With the weather heating up we are in much need of comfortable, good-looking outdoor seating. The Cloud collection, made from powder coated steel and available in a range of colours and sizes, fits the bill. We love the soft and cosy shapes and that we can take it into nature for some proper relaxation.

4 | Duo Seat + Lamp by Fien Muller & Hannes Van Severen

You hardly need words for this one. Just look at it – stunning. But while reminiscent of a minimal art piece, the Duo Seat + Lamp is highly functional. What’s especially wonderful about this seat is that is encourages conversation and interaction between two people. Beautiful.

5 | The Inheritance Armchair by Stephen Kenn in collaboration with Simon Miller

Hand-dipped Indigo dyed canvas upholstery, welded steel frame, leather belting. This one is about materiality through and through. And a chair in deep, rich Indigo? Now that has our vote.

6 | Mammoth Chair by NORR11

Mammoth-Fluffy-Grey-1
Mammoth-Slim-1
Mammoth-Slim-2

With a name like Mammoth, it’s hard not to be drawn to this chair. Available in two versions, Slim and Fluffy, made from oak and with various coverings, you can have your Mammoth just as you like it. We especially love the leather finish (available on the Slim version).
