Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Latest Arper Releases at Stylecraft

This month sees the launch of two new Arper products – Saya and Juno – at Stylecraft.

The Saya chair, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, provides a bold silhouette yet offers fluid lines in its material. With home as the Saya chairs inspiration, the shape is both expressive and inviting whilst the use of timber provides warmth. The shell colours include varieties of natural timber and three different shades of red, which form a statement individually or a cohesive and lively colour palette when used together.

Juno offers simplicity and uniformity with a clever twist. Moulded in a single form in polypropylene, Juno is both visually and physically light. Conceptually the overall structure is reminiscent of a solid timber chair. Juno is available with an open or solid backrest, with or without armrests. All models are available in five colours : white, sand, orange, yellow and anthracite. The seat and back rests may be upholstered, as one or individually. Juno has been developed for contract and residential environments, for both indoors and external use.

The Saya and Juno chairs will be released at this years Saturday in Design.
