Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Liceo by Andreu World

By KE-ZU

Synthesis, memory and formal beauty are what define Liceo, the new seating collection designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga. Liceo is the result of a conscious search and has the elegance of the classics but at the same time is absolutely contemporary. One of the key points in Liceo is the detailed work of the wood, which defines curves and soft transitions with character and personality, respecting the cabinet making techniques but using the latest technology in tridimensional mechanization to achieve complex, very elaborated and surprising geometries. Both in the armchair and lounge versions, this woodworking is combined with the upholstery or braided rope, that makes it an adaptable collection for many uses.
