The Life Outside Issue

Introducing the Life Outside issue of Habitus magazine. With life increasingly being absorbed into a digital space, there is never a more important moment to hold something tangible. In this context, the power of nature to have a physiological impact on our sense of wellbeing has never been more important. So how can we cultivate the benefits of the our natural environment in the most intimate of places – our homes? This was the question that helped to bring this issue of Habitus to life.

Poliform Homes

Poliform worked as part of a close-knit team to come up with a striking joinery solution for a Sydney home.

This Castlecrag, Sydney home is a testament to the exceptional results possible when a client and their team of architect, designer and builder all work together with Poliform to collectively find clever design solutions to meet the client’s needs.

The clients were seeking a space that worked as the central heart of their home; a place for them to spend quality time with their teenage children as well as to regularly entertain guests.

Working together, the team found the perfect design solutions to integrate the kitchen seamlessly to the living areas. This included:

  • Open shelving in the kitchen feels more like living room shelving than kitchen joinery.
  • Concealed fridges and cabinetry creates a clean design that is still highly functional.
  • A scullery next to the kitchen created a hidden area for dumping dirty dishes and food preparation.
  • The selection of classic colours with textured, warm timber finishes helped integrate the spaces and link to the house’s overall scheme.
  • The clients did not want cupboards above the cooktop, so instead the design has allowed for a space on which non-kitchen items such as can be placed, allowing for further integration between living and kitchen areas.

The client was the driving force in using Poliform for their kitchens and wardrobes. Poliform’s clean design resonated with them and the superior quality of the joinery from Italy was not available from local joiners.

For example, this kitchen included a gloss lacquer on the cabinetry. Poliform applies a six-layer gloss, rather than the standard 2 layer process found locally, giving it vastly greater resistance to chips. The wrapping of the gloss around the entire cabinet, rather than just on the front and side panels, also ensures they are a solid, durable option for a busy family.

Poliform also provide design and documentation services to help ensure that the experience is professional and communication is clear for clients, builders and their architects.

Client testimonial:

We were delighted with every aspect of Poliform’s service. Personalized design based on years of industry experience, acute attention to detail and a quality product meant that nothing in the design or installation process was overlooked. The result is a seamlessly functional and timeless kitchen.
