The 'Future' Issue

Habitus #64 Welcome to the HABITUS ‘Future’ and ‘Habitus House of the Year’ Issue. We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Profiles on Yvonne Todd, Amy Lawrance, and Kallie Blauhorn are rounded out with projects from Studio ZAWA, SJB, Spirit Level, STUDIOLIVE, Park + Associates and a Lake House made in just 40 days by the wonderful Wutopia Lab, plus the short list for the Habitus House of the Year!

Second Studio Collection from Carpet Design Centre

The beautiful quality and engaging designs of the Swedish brand lend a luxuriously contemporary aesthetic to any environment.

The Second Studio Collection of eco-friendly, indulgently hand tufted rugs has been developed by Henzel Art & Design Group to offer tailor-made Swedish design and functionality. Each piece emulates the distinctive aesthetic of Second Studio to provide the contemporary feature impact required by the client’s needs. The entire Second Studio rug collection’s colours and dimensions can be customised upon request to provide high standard distinctive pieces in residential or contract projects.

Second Studio is a part of Henzel Art & Design Group – one of the leading manufacturers of contemporary area rugs with a discerning global clientele. The company’s development department and design studio are situated in Gothenburg on the southwest coast of Sweden, an area rich in textile manufacturing history. Not only design and functionality are of importance at Second Studio, also the composition of the carpets is of highest demand. Every step in the manufacturing process – from the initial design to yarn-dying – is done by hand and several of the designs are finished with hand-tufting.

Second Studio rugs are available in Australia from Carpet Design Centre
