We are thrilled to have interior designer of excellence, Brahman Perera, as Guest Editor and to celebrate his Sri Lankan heritage through an interview with Palinda Kannangara and his extraordinary Ek Onkar project – divine! Thinking about the future, we look at the technology shaping our approach to sustainability and the ways traditional materials are enjoying a new-found place in the spotlight. Shakiraaz

With an unsatiable passion for beautiful products for the home, combined with her love for painting and sketching, Shakiraaz was created by Melbourne based, Indian born textile and graphic designer, Shakira Lima.

Starting with handpainting detailed botanicals as cushions a few years ago and with a love for all things natural, handmade and handcrafted, Shakiraaz now includes beautiful textiles and products, designed by Shakira in her Melbourne studio or sourced directly from artisans, in turn helping them sustain a livelihood.

With a colourful range including handscreen printed or hand painted cushions, hand stitched vintage kantha bedlinen, handpainted throws and handwoven jute baskets, each piece on Shakiraaz is quite unique and nothing is mass produced, with each product having a low impact on the environment.
