The Life Outside Issue

Small Bathrooms Call for Big Ideas

The smaller the space, the more intelligent the design solution required, not least when it comes to bathrooms, which need to be supremely functional as well as beautiful.

With a small bathroom, such as an ensuite or guest powder room, or separate lavatory, attention to every detail is crucial. These confined spaces need to be carefully planned for practicality and movement (no sharp corners for the user to bump into!) and to create the illusion of space when there is in fact very little.

When designing a small bathroom (and the need for these are increasing as house sizes are decreasing) think clean lines, simplicity, lack of clutter and pattern and slim-lined fittings that do not inhibit movement. Every detail needs to meld harmoniously in order to create a sense of seamless luxury.

And you don’t need to be a master illusionist to achieve all this. Thankfully, clever manufacturing considers the market needs and comes up with elegant, finely crafted products specifically designed to maximise small bathrooms for big design impact.

A case in point is Falper’s Lavamani range of washbasins designed specifically for bathrooms of modest, even minute, dimensions. The range offers a variety of washbasin designs made from Ceramilux, an innovative material that allows unprecedented levels of slenderness.

The wall-hung semicircular or rectangular basins sit independently, rather than being set into a basin unit, giving a floating appearance that enhances the sense of space. A range of complementary accessories, including Iroko wood shelving so there is somewhere to place soap and other essentials, and matt white brass tubular toilet roll/towel holders, is also available.

Other options include a timber tap shelf attachable to the curved or rectangular basins and a timber shelving unit that can be attached beneath the 120 Rectangular Matt Ceramilux Basin.

By specifying the Lavamani range for small bathrooms you can ensure your next bathroom design will be flush with success.
