Bellevue Hill House by Greg Natale has been shortlisted for Winnings x Habitus House of the Year 2024.

As this home transitioned from one owner to the next, Greg Natale is invited back to Bellevue Hill House to completely reinvent the interior he created twelve years prior.

What was once a Greg Natale Hollywood Regency-era interior has been totally overhauled, and in its place, a soft, textural home comes alive through a beautiful expression of curved additions reminiscent of Cycladic architecture but with a contemporary twist. As one curve ends, another begins, catalysing a seamless flow that carries throughout the home.

The new curves in question begin in the formal entry, where a twisting staircase breeches from the Patagonia Verde quartz floor and curls toward the second storey. Underneath the stairwell, a sizable arch rises to form the opening to the formal lounge. A continuous wall winds its way unobstructed through the space and into the dining area with a feel of fluidity that is reinforced by wave ceilings. Blonde timber floors and a light clay wash on the walls and ceilings bestow an airy, luminous ambience onto the space.

In several rooms, a more-is-more approach to marble is well demonstrated. In the kitchen, walls, countertops, and a custom island exhibit Breccia Capraia imported directly from Italy. Each of the four bathrooms spotlights a different stone, most notably demonstrated upstairs in an ensuite wrapped completely in Arcadia marble.

Modern furniture completes the look that Greg is calling “European Minimalism”. To have had the rare opportunity to reverse a previous design and start over from scratch was a ritualistic practice symbolic of the designers evolution.
