Bicicletta

Australia

The Diamant Hotel Canberra is proud to present Bicicletta, an all new Italian bistro with the flavour of Venice in its veins!

Following a fire in the New Acton Precinct, Bicicletta has just re-opened its doors at the Diamant Hotel with two Venetian born and trained chefs in the kitchen. Housed in the Boutique Diamant Hotel, Bicicletta is located just a stone’s throw from Canberra’s key cultural precincts.

Bicicletta itself, is a rustic Italian bistro with a new modern industrial-chic interior. It is part of a well-established collection of restaurants that started in Balmain in Sydney with a restaurant of the same name. The new restaurant offers guests authentic hand-made Italian fare and fresh local produce that shows off old-country culinary techniques.

The executive chef is Venice-born and trained Luca Zanini, who brings all the flair from his native country to the restaurant’s helm. Fresh from the success of popular Sydney eateries Mille Vini and Pizza Birra, Zanini has crafted a menu for Bicicletta that is just as accessible, as it is delectable. Zanini worked in Italy, Stuttgart, London and Sydney before joining the team at Bicicletta. Zanini is  second Venetian chef, Davide Barbisan.

Barbisan arrived in Australia in 2005 and has previously worked at Potts Point hotspot Fratelli Paradiso and at Mille Vini. The Diamant’s fully refurbished Bicicletta now offers all guests a brand new team, menu and interior that is relaxed, yet chic.

Featuring a wine list perfectly designed to match Italian food, the choice of wines showcases the best of ACT’s most talented vignerons and Italian wine styles from Australia and abroad. Signature dishes on the menu include, spaghetti scoglio, homemade tagliatelle with duck ragu and mouth-watering thin crust pizzas with pork sausage and porcini mushroom. Other Bicicletta highlights include umbrella shaded alfresco dining in the leafy hotel surrounds, house made gelato, and a very popular ‘Aperitivo’ seved to hotels guests and locals every evening.

Passers-by can pick up take-away coffee and panini at the restaurant window and Bicicletta also stays open late to look after hotel guests and to provide room service to the Diamant’s 80 rooms. Open 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Bicicletta is a fabulous new addition to Acton urban village.
