We spotted this beautiful design late last year, but thought it was worth revisiting now it’s available in Australia.
We’ve seen some interesting bottle designs in recent years, including a number of collaborations from Evian – such as Paul Smith and Jean-Paul Gaultier – but this elegant design of a Hennessy cognac bottle by Italian architect Ferruccio Laviani takes the cake for opulence.
With an oversized cap coated in 18 carat gold and stamped with an authenticity ‘seal’, the bottle holds the extremely rare Paradis Horus cognac – described by Hennessy as “s sensual harmony of fl avours, colours and textures”. The name Horus is the same as the ancient Egyptian god of sun, alluding to both the gold bottle and the amber liquid it encapsulates.
The feminine curves of this sculpted bottle are apparently akin to the full-bodied elixir within. Laviani describes the design as “a rounded off, gold rectangle that frames, while still preserving the distinct outline along the edges of the decanter to enhance its undulating contours” – sensual words for a sensual design.
Laviani – who has worked for international design brands such as Dolce&Gabbana, Kartell, Cassina, Foscarini and Flos – has also designed the gift box – a black and gold detailed container-for-a-container – designed to “echo the decanter’s grandeuer and the cognac’s golden allure”.
If you’d like to pick up a bottle of this rare cognac and enjoy ‘drinking in design’ it will set you back RRP $2,200 from Moët Hennessy Australia.
