Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

Outdoor collaboration mixes business and pleasure

Coco Republic

Coco Republic has released its latest outdoor collection in partnership with Business & Pleasure Co., their second collaboration following the SS24 range.

Created with Business & Pleasure Co., the new ‘Luxury on the Lawn’ offering is now available online in Coco Republic showrooms across Australia. The collection spans products from umbrellas to furniture and accessories.

The collaboration combines Coco Republic’s design-led approach with Business & Pleasure Co.’s vintage-inspired outdoor aesthetic. It brings back the black-and-white Portofino colourway while introducing Ravello, a limited-edition berry shade intended to evoke the Amalfi Coast. The pieces are designed to complement both contemporary and timeless outdoor settings.

Among the key products is the Resort Market Umbrella, a Business & Pleasure Co. signature featuring a sturdy frame and the brand’s Pleasuretex canopy. The range also includes the Shore Outdoor Sofa and Occasional Chair, constructed from powder-coated stainless steel with rope detailing and quick-dry cushions. The range of additional items then extends to 100 per cent cotton beach towels, scatter and bolster cushions in both colourways, and a classic umbrella base finished with a durable powder coat and stainless-steel self-levelling feet.

Durability is emphasised throughout the collection, with features such as weather-resistant metals, anti-corrosive finishes, removable slipcovers and robust fabrics designed to withstand outdoor conditions over time. The release is positioned around the idea of entertaining outdoors, offering coordinated pieces intended for poolside use, garden gatherings and summer events.

Prices range from $119 to $5,195. Alongside the collaboration, Coco Republic continues to stock an extended selection of Business & Pleasure Co. outdoor products in various colourways.

Both brands describe the partnership as a meeting of shared values: Coco Republic with its long-standing focus on sophisticated design, and Business & Pleasure Co. with its commitment to nostalgic, durable outdoor pieces.
