The 'Bespoke' Issue

With Guest Editor Yasmine Ghoniem, we are launched headfirst into the world of unique and eclectic design. From architecture to interiors, there is nothing that can’t be enlivened with bespoke interventions. Granted, a stunningly beautiful home can be made by simply shopping for the best, but when the artist’s hand is introduced, some pure magic is possible. Whether it is an artwork or a new upholstery, a built-in component or a mosaic inlay, these gestures, whether bold or subtle, are what make the home unique.

A blend of luxury and wellness up for discussion

One of three events hosted as part of the 2023 Habitus House of the Year, an early morning discussion set the tone for an inspiring day – where wellness and luxury were the hot topic.

The recent breakfast talk hosted by Technogym as part of Habitus House of the Year provided a refreshing exploration of design and well-being. Joining the stage to delve into the topic were Jonathan Richards and Kirsten Stanisich of Richards Stanisich, who shared some of the thinking that underpins their Armidale House project, which is in the 2023 Selection for Habitus House of the Year.

The engaging conversation spanned the rise of wellness design, emphasising the importance of elements such as natural light, materiality and a connection to the outdoors. Richards and Stanisich artfully painted a picture of holistic design that extends beyond aesthetics, for how design can ultimately contribute to the well-being of inhabitants.

Giulio Gasperini from Technogym shared valuable insights, likening wellness to an attitude. Gasperini emphasised that living a healthy life is no longer a mere luxury but a fundamental aspect of modern living.

Guests were treated to a delightful spread, featuring coffee by Illy, refreshing Dash Water crafted from fruits that would otherwise go to landfill, and an assortment of pastries, fresh fruit, and yoghurt.

What better way to start the day than with refreshing conversations and the Habitus community coming together.
