Kitchen & Bathroom Issue

Kitchens and bathrooms are, arguably, the most consequential rooms in the home — and almost always the first to be considered. Whether approached through renovation or new build, their design has the power to recalibrate how a home is lived in and experienced. For this issue, our guest editor, Mardi Doherty, principal of Studio Doherty, explores what it truly means to transform these pivotal spaces — and why thoughtful design in kitchens and bathrooms delivers dividends far beyond the purely functional. Her insights both as an architect and as her own client give an open and honest account of the thinking behind creating a home.

A balanced approach to outdoor living

Talenti

Talenti’s new Flow collection by Serafini and Palomba blends material warmth, comfort and fluid design for modern outdoor living.

Talenti has revealed Flow, a new outdoor collection designed by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba for the ICON 2026 catalogue. The range expands the brand’s ongoing exploration of materiality, comfort and contemporary outdoor use, offering a system suited to both residential and contract settings.

Flow includes modular sofas, armchairs, chaise longues, sunbeds, dining elements and accompanying tables. The collection is designed to integrate easily with Talenti’s broader portfolio, maintaining a consistent aesthetic through proportion, detailing and material selection.

A key focus of the collection is tactile comfort. Generous cushions and a series of striped textiles — created exclusively for Talenti — contribute to the visual identity. The fabrics reinterpret a familiar outdoor motif in warm tones of bronze, burgundy and beige. These colours sit alongside powder-coated aluminium frames and teak accents, with the timber curved carefully for the backrest profiles. The combination results in a coherent palette that lends subtle warmth without compromising durability.

“We wanted a dialogue between the warmth of wood and the material presence of aluminium,” the designers note. “The name Flow refers to a sense of fluidity — time spent with others and the softness and ease reflected in the forms.”

Textiles are central to this approach, with the custom stripe pattern offering a clear link between tradition and current design thinking. The palette has been developed to align with the metal and timber finishes, giving each piece continuity within the broader system.

Serafini describes the collaboration with Talenti as a “shared process,” while Palomba highlights the value of “working closely with the company to test ideas and explore technical possibilities.”

With Flow, Talenti adds another considered collection to its outdoor offering, built around material balance and a measured sense of comfort.
