Design worth a Double take

Double

Realised by Double, the New Zealand Wool Collection finds its footing within Pattern Studio’s interiors for The Standard Store, where natural materiality is given room to speak.

In design, beauty often reveals its full potential within the context of a space. Objects within architecture and interiors show their most profound qualities when interacting with their surroundings. If we are to use The Standard Store in Surry Hills as a guide, the New Zealand Wool Collection by Double can be previewed anchoring a series of rooms within the casa. Whilst the interiors – namely conceived by the revered Pattern Studio – chronicle an affinity for ebullience and experimentation that cannot be confined to an era or style, they are the catalyst for said floor textures to feel right at home. While Double has amassed a presence in projects Australia-wide, it is perhaps its simplicity that complements both contemporary and traditional interiors, making it adaptable to a variety of environments.

Apiece, the collection is conceived entirely from 100% New Zealand wool, coalescing the inherent softness and durability of the fibre with contemporary simplicity. The plush texture retains its form over time, a result of an advanced weaving technique that integrates wool fibres into the backing. The versatility of the collection is evident in its range of textures, sizes and colourways. While modern in construction, the rugs draw from traditional craftsmanship, preserving the heritage of textile production.

The New Zealand Wool Collection is one such release where style, sustainability and practicality coexist. Double’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and ethical production is reflected in every aspect of the collection. The wool is ethically sourced and the dyes are azo-free, ensuring both longevity and minimal environmental impact. Manufactured in a SMETA-certified facility, the collection meets strict environmental and social standards.
