Jury announcement: Habitus House of the Year 2026 is here!

Habitus House of the Year

Find out who is on our extensive jury as this year’s program launches and we search for the most outstanding homes across the Asia-Pacific region.

Following a stellar 2025 program that featured a shortlist of 26 projects, Habitus House of the Year is back.

We’ll be revealing this year’s shortlist soon, with winners announced towards the end of the year. In the meantime, we are officially launching the 2026 Habitus House of the Year program with the announcement of the jury.

The jury, once again, is large, varied and of course highly reputable. In 2026, 16 jurors join us to decide the single winner to be crowned House of the Year. Alongside this award, there will be others including People’s Choice (look out for information about voting soon!), Editor’s Choice and a Winnings Award.

The 2026 jury is notable for its wide range of experience and perspective, with the aim of providing different points of view from across practice and the wider design community. Representatives are included from both small and large studios, different states and varying career stages. Perhaps most significantly, the jury sees a number of individuals on the other side of the fence, so to speak – winners of awards and shortlisters from recent years. Brian Zulaikha, for example, is a pre-eminent Australian architect whose work featured in the shortlist last year, while Jason Gibney received the 2025 Editor’s Choice Award.

The jury convenes at Winnings’ Redfern showroom in Sydney for a full day of deliberation. This year’s shortlisted projects are taken from a number of different countries across the Asia-Pacific region – look out for the announcement of the full list soon, as well as your chance to vote and win prizes as part of the People’s Choice Award.
