Sydney might have been a long way from the Mediterranean, but lunch by the water in Rose Bay made a fitting setting for the Australian launch of Le Creuset’s latest colour, Bleu Riviera.
Guests gathered at Riva in late September for a long lunch introducing the new collection, with the harbour setting picking up on the coastal references behind the colour itself. Bleu Riviera is a glossy blue-green, finished on the cast iron pieces with a contrasting gold-toned knob – a combination Le Creuset describes as taking its cues from sunlit water and the warmth of a Mediterranean sunset.

It is certainly one of the brighter additions to the Le Creuset palette. Rather than limiting the colour to a hero casserole or two, Bleu Riviera extends across a sizeable collection of cookware, bakeware, dinnerware and accessories. The familiar cast iron round, oval and shallow casseroles are joined by skillets, a square grill and petal shallow casserole, with prices for the cast iron collection beginning at $380.
The colour also moves beyond the stovetop. Mugs, a new classic teapot with infuser, Heritage dishes, Coupe dinnerware, ramekins and serving pieces carry Bleu Riviera through to the table, alongside smaller accessories including salt and pepper mills and the traditional kettle.

The launch at Riva gave the collection a chance to be seen in the context Le Creuset has imagined for it: around a table, over lunch and against the blues of the water beyond. While the Mediterranean inspiration is overt, Bleu Riviera’s strength is perhaps simpler – it’s a confident colour that can work as a single accent or be carried across a larger table setting.

For a brand so closely associated with colour, the arrival of a new shade is naturally something of an occasion. Le Creuset has been producing cookware since 1925, and Bleu Riviera joins its century-long history of bringing colour into the kitchen. The collection became available in Australia from 29th September 2026.
For one afternoon in Rose Bay, at least, the Mediterranean didn’t feel quite so far away.
